IBM Sustainability Software - Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Inherit "Release links" from parent GC for PGC

When working in config enabled world, we always use changesets to make changes in DNG streams.

As you are usually working in a GC context, the tool then automatically switches to your personal global stream.

If you need to have links to work items, from DNG side, the "Release" link setting on GC level defines which work item links you can see.

Currently (7.0.2 and 7.0.3), this is an explicit setting on the Global Streams as well as any related Personal Global Stream.

The setting is copied at the point in time when the PGC is created, but it is not synchronized in any way.

The Tool shall automatically inherit (but not copy) the setting of the Global Stream for any Personal Global Stream, maybe unless it is explicitely set on PGC level.

In this way, the PGC would be always in synch to its parent GC except a user wants to test something.

In addition, a hint would be good to e.g. tell the user to remove the Release link in his PGC to switch back to synchronisation with parent GC.

Unfortunately again an example where a good idea is not fully implemented and therefor causes more (inconsistency) issues than it solves…

As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has carefully reviewed this idea and it is a valid request. We eventually would like to consider this in the context of other improvements for teams using Global Configurations. Unfortunately we don't believe this is in our 18-month development time frame, so we are declining it for now.

Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository.  We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products. We see this as a valid request.
