Font Customization Options for Improved Readability and Accessibility

Idea:

Introduce user-configurable font settings in the application, including the ability to:

  • Revert to the previous default font.
  • Adjust font size and line spacing.

Description:

With the recent UI refresh, the IBM Plex font was introduced as the new default. While this change aligns with modern design trends, feedback from users indicates that the new font presents readability challenges, particularly in terms of size and spacing. Currently, the application does not provide an option to revert to the previous font or customize font settings.

This enhancement proposes the addition of a font customization feature that allows users to:

  • Choose from a set of pre-approved fonts (including the previous default).
  • Adjust font size and line spacing to suit individual preferences or accessibility needs.

This would significantly improve the user experience, especially for those with visual impairments or specific accessibility requirements.

    As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has carefully reviewed this idea, and based on our understanding, it does not fit our plans since IBM Engineering implemented IBM policy to align on new Plex font. Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository. We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products.
