Support OAuth2/MFA for Email Server Authentication in IBM ELM

Currently, the email server configuration in IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) products only supports basic authentication using a username and password. This approach is becoming increasingly obsolete and insecure, especially as many cloud-based email providers (e.g., Microsoft 365, Gmail) are deprecating or disabling basic auth in favor of more secure methods.

We propose that IBM ELM should support modern authentication mechanisms, particularly:

OAuth2 authentication, requiring username, password, and a token or client credential

Compatibility with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) scenarios where applicable

As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each idea suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has reviewed the idea, and based on our understanding, it is accepted as an uncommitted candidate.

Thank you for submitting idea. IBM Engineering team review board evaluated this request and determined it will need additional information to evaluate this request.

Your current request is broad. Could you provide us with the specific use cases describing your request for OAuth2/MFA support?
