IBM Sustainability Software - Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Visibility of EWM Release Information (used in Found In / Planned For) in Global Configuration Streams

Context:

After traceability links (Implemented by, Affected by and Tracked by) are created between an EWM work item and engineering artifacts, navigation from a work item opens the artifact (requirement, test artefact etc) within the appropriate Global Configuration context, determined by the release specified in the work item's Planned For and Found In attributes or by the Global Configuration selected in the EWM interface.

Problem:

  • In global configuration views, EWM release information is not visible directly. Users must open several GC tabs and navigate through multiple screens to find it. As a result, many users do not understand these fields or do not maintain them correctly, leading to inconsistent data.
  • If in EWM release definition, a GC is selected, it’s not visible in the GC interface.

Impact:

Poor visibility of release information reduces traceability quality, increases navigation effort, and creates gaps and inconsistencies that affect impact analysis, reporting, and release planning.

Goal of the Idea:

Make EWM release information directly visible within Global Configuration streams views.

Why is it Useful?:

Improves user experience by reducing clicks. Encourages correct data maintenance. Increases traceability accuracy. Improves the reliability of reports and release management activities.

How Should it Work?:

Display EWM release values directly in the Global Configuration tree, or as columns in the GC view.
