Support DOORS Next global configurations and configuration-aware linking in Engineering AI Hub MCP tools

A UAT participant reported searches taking more than eight minutes when listing artifacts by attribute criteria and finding requirements linked to features. Users also observed that broad prompts can cause multiple searches across RM, CCM, and QM unless the prompt explicitly limits the application, project area, component, and configuration. The MCP server should:

  • Resolve likely application, project, component, and configuration context before executing a broad search.

  • Push filtering and relationship traversal to the server rather than retrieving large intermediate datasets.

  • Provide server-side aggregation and pagination for “find all” requests.

  • Warn users when a query is too broad and propose suitable scope filters.

  • Avoid searching unrelated ELM applications unless cross-application discovery is requested.

  • Provide tested performance benchmarks for large repositories and complex link structures.

IBM describes the MCP tools as supporting discovery, impact analysis, dependencies, relationships, and lifecycle traceability. These capabilities need predictable performance on enterprise-scale datasets.
