Consistent Global Configuration Administration Across Jazz Applications

Context:

Administrators work across RM, ETM, EWM, and Global Configuration. However, GC administration is not always consistent with the rest of the Jazz applications, creating confusion and additional learning effort.

Problem: Administrative tasks behave differently in GC. For example:

  • Archiving a configuration is less intuitive than in RM.
  • Some actions, such as Export Project template, are only available from within a project area (needed in doors Next, ETM and EWM also)
  • Administrators may need project membership to perform administrative tasks.

Impact: Administration becomes more complex and time-consuming. These inconsistencies create confusion and reduce administrator productivity.

Goal of the Idea: Align the GC administration experience with other Jazz applications.

Why is it Useful?:

  • Simplifies administration.
  • Reduces training and support needs.
  • Improves consistency across IBM ELM.
  • Allows administrators to work more efficiently.

How Should it Work?:

Standardize GC administration menus, permissions, and workflows to match RM, ETM, and EWM, allowing administrators to perform common tasks without requiring project membership.
