Simplify and Improve Global Configuration Context Switching

Context: Users frequently switch Global Configuration (GC) contexts while navigating across RM, ETM, and other ELM applications. In large environments with many configurations, finding the correct GC can be difficult and time-consuming.

Problem: The GC switcher does not prioritize configurations containing the current component. Users can select a GC that does not include the current component, resulting in an error message and forcing them to restart completely the process from the switch menu. Navigation between components, streams, and configurations is also inconsistent across applications, especially when compared to the more intuitive DOORS Next experience.

Impact: Users waste time searching for the correct configuration, perform unnecessary clicks, and experience navigation frustration. This reduces productivity and increases the risk of working in the wrong context.

Goal of the Idea: Make GC context switching faster, more intuitive, and consistent across all ELM applications.

Why is it Useful?:

• Reduces navigation effort and Improves user experience and productivity.
• Prevents configuration selection errors.
• Provides a consistent experience across RM, ETM, and other Jazz applications.

How Should it Work?:

• Prioritize, highlight or filter GCs that contain the current component.
• Filter or hide incompatible GCs.
• Harmonize navigation behavior across applications, taking inspiration from the DOORS Next user experience.
