Bundled Liberty server no longer shows user name in access log

Using the bundled Liberty server you can't output the user name in access logs. This is because the only way to output the user name at present is to authenticate to IHS in front of the JTS server and this is not supported. The ability to output the user name was available with Apache Tomcat.

To see the problem, try to set the user name in access logs via the $WSRU header.

1. Change the server.xml in Liberty as per below:

C:\IBM\JazzTeamServer\server\liberty\servers\clm\server.xml

<httpEndpoint id="defaultHttpEndpoint">
<accessLogging
filepath="${server.output.dir}/logs/http_access.log" logFormat="%h %i
%u %t %r %s %b"/>
</httpEndpoint>

2. Restart the server and log in as a user.

3. Observe in the http_access.log that the logged in user name does not appear.

The %u option is described in the Liberty Knowledge Centre:
