This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Allow to categorize comment types in Discussion so that they can be filtered

We have many work items with a lot of comments, as we have a lot of users. Some work items have more than 100 comments in them. Also, there are some system related comments.

We looked at the existing RFEs for this functionality and found the below:

Provide filters to filter out system-generated or author-specific comments in discussion section
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=19102

The Ability to Tag and filter Discussion Entries in a work item
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=43727

option to filter comments by author in the work item editor
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=77045

But we couldn't find something that requested some categories for types of comments. For example, we could have categories such as Unassigned, QA, Req, Comment, Other, etc. That way it might be easy to filter out some of the unrelated information and speed up understanding what is happening in a work item. Just reversing the order of work item comments, does not resolve that problem.

We have a plan to look at this as part of "Common Commenting Component" which is on our design backlog, marking this as uncommitted candidate
