Need to scope plan to include Category and sub-categories

I need a way to be able to limit the scope of the plan - what is read up from the database - to a category plus its subcategories. I want to use Plan Scope to do this so that it limits how many database items are brought into the plan to improve load time of a plan.

It works with exclude -> expression -> !filedAgainst~"Project" but not with Plan Scope --> filedAgainst~"Project"

    Additional remark for this idea:

If a Plan is configured to show Parent-Child tree of work items. All children of a work item which is in the scope of the plan should be displayed, independently from any other criteria (Filed Against, Team, PA-assignment...). The displaying of Parent-Child relationships should work in the same way as if just the plan owner and the plan iteration is chosen.

EWM RFE review board has evaluated this request and decided to keep it on the Backlog as an uncommitted candidate for a future release. This request aligns with our modernization plans but is unlikely to be addressed in the next 12-16 months due to other higher priority items on the Backlog.
