Currently the Quick Planner presents an editable list of work item attributes, but the view of which attributes are listed is not configurable in the process configuration, this editor appears to be hard coded and it results in anomalies where some attributes appear in the Quick Planner which cannot be modified using the other editor types.
A simple example is Due Date.
In Quick Planner the "Due Date" attribute is presented for many, but not all, work item types. In fact the only exception appears to be the "Story" work item type which does not present "Due Date", however this has only been noted by observation, it would be really useful if there was some documentation available which identified the logic Quick Planner uses when determining whether to show "Due Date" or not.
In other editor presentation types (main editor, plan editor, web inline editor), we have configured those to omit presentation of the "Due Date" because it is not intended to be used, however the Quick Planner users in the team have been setting the "Due Date" using Quick Planner and this is causing confusion because it is only visible in Quick Planner, people not using Quick Planner cannot see the Due Date.
Ideally we would like the ability to be able to configure the attributes that are presented in Quick Planner within the work items presentation in the process configuration so that we can completely align the Quick Planner editor presentation of the work items with the other types of work item editor. This will avoid the confusing difference between work items in Quick Planner and work items in all other editor presentations.
As noted, it would also be useful to get feedback on the internal decision made by quick planner on whether it presents an attribute (such as Due date) or not for a work item type, so that we can explain it to our users, currently the algorithm is a mystery and seems to be solely based on a hardcoded work item type (e.g. Story does not show Due Date in Quick Planner), I originally thought it might be based on whether a work item was a plan or execution work item type, but that does not appear to be the case.
Thanks.
