Incomplete mapping cannot be completed without incorrectly importing data

When importing a set of work items from a PA with another base template out of a csv-file, in the source, there may be a field that do not exist in target.
There is no problem, if a similar field with a different name exists in the target.
But there is problem, if the source has more or different fields than the target.
Due to the policy that each source field must be assigned to a target field, there is no possible assignment.

If the user does not select a field, the custom mapping cannot be saved and the import can not be finished.
The user may select an arbitrary other field, that has a completely different label but the same value type, then the import could be finished however, in this case, the import data is corrupted, as the imported work item now contains incorrect data in a wrong field.

Expected solution: allow partial custom mapping that ignore source field that have no target field assigned.

The EWM Ideas review board has evaluated this request. This request is being rejected as the user is expected to correct the input file by removing the column of data that?s ?extra?.
