This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

When comparing Cobol sources in the EWM SCM web UI in the browser, and sequence numbers were either removed or reordered between the compared versions, the comparison shows all the lines as being modified just because of these sequence number changes thereby making the comparison useless for code review purposes.
We would like to be able to only consider the actual Cobol code in columns 7-72, while optionally ignoring columns 1-6 and 73-80 which may only contain sequence numbers or other non-code information.
This should work like the existing options that appear in the IDz toolbar when a Compare editor is open on a Cobol file, to ignore changes made in columns 1-6 and 73-80.
Different populations use different clients: for example a Cobol developer would use IDz, whereas an Application Manager could use the web UI, because they don't code themselves, only review other people's changes. That is why it is important to have this option available both in the IDz and web EWM clients.
