Table space limitation of 30TBs per tablespace even when activating bigfile in Oracle database

Oracle limitation of 30TBs per tablespace

Move the lob segments of table REPOSITORY_CONTENT_STORAGE to a separate tablespace with 32K block size, which would give us a big file with 128TB size.

This would mean to change the definition of the mentioned table as follows within the IBM CCM software:

  1. set Parameter db_32k_cache_size first:

SQL

alter system set db_32k_cache_size=128M scope=BOTH sid='*';

2.  create a tablespace with the following statement:

SQL

CREATE BIGFILE TABLESPACE "CCM1_LOB" DATAFILE
 SIZE 1000G
 AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 500G MAXSIZE 128T
 LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT BLOCKSIZE 32768
 EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOALLOCATE DEFAULT
NOCOMPRESS  SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;

3. Change the table definition:

SQL

ALTER TABLE CCM1USER.REPOSITORY_CONTENT_STORAGE MOVE LOB CONTENT_BYTES
STORE AS BASICFILE (
TABLESPACE "CCM1_LOB" ENABLE STORAGE IN ROW CHUNK 32768 RETENTION
NOCACHE LOGGING
STORAGE(INITIAL 65536 NEXT 1048576 MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645
PCTINCREASE 0 FREELISTS 1 FREELIST GROUPS 1
BUFFER_POOL DEFAULT FLASH_CACHE DEFAULT CELL_FLASH_CACHE DEFAULT)) ;
