Feature "Move or Copy this Work Item to Another Project Area" copies the Work Item including the "comments" field.

We’ve noticed that when using the "Move or Copy this Work Item to Another Project Area" feature, the comments field is always copied along with the Work Item. While this may be useful in some cases, it doesn’t offer flexibility to users who may not want to carry over comments to the new project area.

To improve usability and consistency, we’d like to suggest one of the following enhancements:

  • Add an option that allows users to choose whether or not to copy comments when using this feature.
  • Alternatively, align the behavior with the "Create Work Item Copy" feature, which allows users to select specific attributes to copy — and notably does not include comments by default.

This change would help users maintain cleaner project areas and avoid transferring unnecessary or context-specific discussions.

The EWM Ideas Review board looked at this request and decided to keep it on the Backlog as an uncommitted candidate for a future release.
We want to share that, currently, this can be accomplished via 2 step process:
    1. Copy work item first which will not copy the comments.
    2. Then move the work item to required project area.
