We want to be able to link two types of work items with a custom link type

We are looking to implement numerious seperate workflows however at different stages with the workflow there are branch points where it triggers a different workflow and we want a custom link name to track where one work item in workflow A triggers a new workitem in workflow B. So we can see a named link AtoB Link for example between the work items. Looking for similar functionality the DOORS offers in creating link types. These link types need to be exposed to the LQE so that RS can report on them.

This very old article looks like it might do this but looking for something more integrated in the web gui.
