Proposal to detach a WorkItem and associate another after the Discard of a Change Set by a dialog box

When a Change Set is Discarded, the associated Work Item remains associated.

The requested improvement is as follows: after a Change Set is Discarded, a dialog box should appear offering the option to unlink a Work Item and link a new one in its place.

This would prevent errors during a Promote WorkItems operation if the Discarded Change Set is still linked to the WorkItem being promoted.

    Thank you for the enhancement request. After careful review, the Ideas Review Board has decided not to proceed with this request at this time.

    This behavior is aligned with the design and lifecycle model of EWM change sets. In EWM, a change set is not exclusively tied to a single workspace or work item. Change sets are designed as flexible units of work that can be shared, accepted from other workspaces or users, and reused across different contexts.

    When a change set is discarded, the discard operation applies only within the context of the current workspace. The change set itself continues to exist and may still be valid or associated elsewhere. Because of this, EWM does not prompt users to disassociate linked work items when discarding a change set, as the underlying change set artifact is not being deleted or invalidated globally.

    For these reasons, the current behavior is considered expected product behavior and no change is planned at this time.
