The PUB Studio client is designed to efficiently load and render PUB templates. For customers working with large and complex templates, the current loading and rendering process already requires noticeable time due to the volume of template elements. In addition, scrolling through large templates requires the client to continuously render visible content, making UI rendering performance a key consideration.
Introducing user-defined colors for template elements would require additional UI metadata to be stored, loaded, and rendered for every applicable element. This would increase the amount of data processed during template loading and while rendering the UI during scrolling and other interactions. As a result, users with large templates are likely to experience:
Increased template loading time.
Additional memory consumption on the client.
Reduced UI responsiveness, particularly during scrolling and rendering operations.
Our current priority is to maintain a responsive and scalable authoring experience in PUB Studio, especially for customers managing large enterprise templates. Based on this evaluation, implementing user-defined colors is not recommended at this time because it introduces additional rendering overhead while providing limited functional benefit.
This is in line with our usability improvements and we will add it to our backlog for future consideration.
