Build in an XML validator/encoder

I'm developing a rather complex template that traverses multiple levels of links. Customer said, "We want to use our own custom RequirementID instead of the DNG generated ID"...so I implement via Javascript. Text script output is "<strong>"+customRequirementID+": </strong>"+div with XHTML input and output checked in the script.

It started crashing. Because customer has a customRequirementID like "M&CD123".

The & is not XML compliant.

The thing is, if I had used a bold text container with the variable customRequirementID, another text container with a ": " in it, and then a last text container with <div> this would not have happened. Thus, RPE does have a built-in XML encoder to deal with this. (And for the record that's how I fixed this issue).

Would love it if there would be some functionality like string _sessionUtils.encodeStringForXML(text) or void _sessionUtils.stringNeedsEncoding(text) ... this would solve so many issues and make it much easier on template authors. As always, feel free to contact me for more detail.
