Improve Rhapsody performance with big models

As well known in the comunitiy and also pointed out by some of our cases the performance of the Rhapsody client is not ideal, even more so when users create complex project ("big models") with e.g. 2000 units and more. Depending on the number of elements in the model, the loading time of such models can take several minutes, e.g. latest axample for case TS016164794 it takes between 4 and 9 minutes to load 5000 to 6000 artifacts. This performance is unacceptable, also considering other similar tools on the market preforming better or similar but with millions of artifacts.

Request: Rhapsody should load any type of model in no more than 1 minute

Ideas:

  • currently Rhapsody is mostly single threaded - make use of multi threading, use all CPU cores effectively

  • improve indexing / loading process for diagrams and elements, e.g. copy first everything into RAM, use as much RAM as needed, current modern PCs have plenty

  • refactor, re-design, remove obsolete code

    Hi,

We are continuously working to enhance our performance in loading the model.
We will add this to our backlog to track progress. Additionally, we conduct performance tests with every release.
We will develop a plan and share updates with you on a case-by-case basis. For now, I'll use this for tracking purposes.

    Regards,

    Suneel...
