IBM Sustainability Software - Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Document hardware performance benchmarks for DOORS 9 components, similar to what is available for DOORS Next

At the time of writing, DOORS minimum hardware requirements date back some (many) years and are not at all exhaustive as to what performance is recommended for production workloads.

Other products in the same group of tools document their performance requirements in much more detail, such as
https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/DiskBenchmarking

but at the very least in a way to allows the picking of appropriate hardware in production environments.

For example, provide figure for single thread CPU performance, network throughput, etc.
For storage performance, figures such as
Total I/O: IOPS xxxx / MiB/s xx,xx / AvgLat x,xx
Read I/O: IOPS xxxx / MiB/s xx,xx / AvgLat x,xx
Write I/O: IOPS xxxx / MiB/s xx,xx / AvgLat x,xx

could be useful to set the framework for minimum and recommended performance for some or many production scenarios.

We are asking for similar figures to be taken and documented for DOORS 9.

I would highly appreciate this recommendations as we are using storage subsystems managed by third-party supplier and we must do an agreement together which fits our (DOORS tools) demands.

So it is necessary to know the performance needed by the DOORS application to request the corresponding underlying storage-performance.
