Option to automatically set Link Validity to "Valid" when creating new links

Currently, in DOORS Next, whenever a new link is created, its Link Validity status is automatically set to Suspect. This means that users have to perform an additional manual step (marking the link as Valid) immediately after creating it, even though the link was just intentionally created by the user.

We request an optional project-level configuration that allows administrators to define whether new links should be created with validity set to Valid by default. This option would give projects more flexibility:

  • If enabled, all newly created links in that project are automatically considered Valid.
  • If disabled, the current behavior remains (new links are Suspect).

Benefits

  • Efficiency: Saves time by reducing unnecessary manual steps for users who are creating many links.
  • Clarity: Avoids confusion where users assume a newly created link should already be valid, but instead see it as suspect.
  • Process flexibility: Different projects have different governance requirements. Some projects want strict separation between link creation and link validation, but others want creation to imply validity. This option would support both approaches.
  • Improved adoption: By reducing user frustration, the feature would make Link Validity easier to adopt and more intuitive for new users.
