ReqIF import should not delete enum values without warning as it could cause data loss

If you import a ReqIF package that has a different list of values for a particular enumerated attribute, that list replaces the existing list in the component (for GC-enabled components at least). Any values that are not in the incoming package are removed - even if existing artifacts are using those values, and even if there are no conflicts in the values (e.g. if the new values have different numbers from the existing). There is no warning of the change or the loss of data for those artifacts. Even when importing into a change set, the delivery comparison does not clearly show that some enum values will be removed. Although you can use options to restrict updating types, there could be cases where you WANT new values added in the ReqI, e.g. if a supplier added their values and you want to supplement yours. I would be surprised if one would want the values from a single ReqIF package to take precedence over the values for your entire component. At a minimum, there should be a warning that the import is removing enum values that could be in use, which could impact your artifacts. Ideally, there would be an option to reconcile the values or have them automatically merged if there is no conflict.
