DNG Advanced ReqIF Export Option: Export multiple modules into a separate ReqIF(z) each, instead of all modules into one ReqIF(z) with multiple SPECIFICATIONS

Description

New Export option for DNG Advanced ReqIF Import: Enable or disable “Export each module into separate ReqIF”.

  • When the option is enabled, DNG Advanced ReqIF Export shall behave as follows:

    • Each module exported shall be exported into a separate ReqIF, i.e. there shall be one SPECIFICATION per ReqIF

    • This means that if we export mutliple modules, DNG ReqIF export shall export multiple ReqIFs

  • When the option is disabled, DNG Advanced ReqIF Export shall behave as follows (current behavior):

    • All exported modules are exported into a single ReqIF, as different SPECIFICATIONS in the same ReqIF

    • This means that if we export mutliple modules, DNG ReqIF export shall export a single ReqIF

DNG shall also make this DNG Advanced ReqIF Import option available via the DNG OSLC API. The corresponding DNG OSLC API shall be public and documented.

Motivation / Reason

Some tools cannot handle multiple specifications in one file.

"Forcing" DNG ReqIF Export to export multiple modules into one single ReqIF (current behavior) means the ReqIF file can become quite large, with no upper limit depending on number of modules being exported.

  • Some ReqIF Import / Export tools show poor performance when trying to import very large ReqIF file (including DOORS Next).

  • Some tools may even be unable to import ReqIF files if they are too large.

  • This can be prevented by "splitting up" the export, i.e. exporting every module into a separate ReqIF.
