Define validation rules for attributes / data types

Validation rules contribute to the requirement quality by ensuring  that requirement attributes are filled out correctly and consistent.

There are several possibilites to enrich the validation possibilites in Doors Next (right now only boundaries for integer, float, date and datetime are possible:

  • Regular Expressions on strings
  • Connected drop down fields to create "drop down hierarchies", e.g. selection of first drop down field narrows down selection possibilites for second drop down field
    • Or at least allow to specify validation rules that avoids selection of invalid combinations
  • Javascript validators for more complex validations
