Allow the Report Builder save the Schedule Report on a Remote Location.

We would like more flexibility in how scheduled reports generated by the Report Builder are stored. Currently, scheduled reports are limited in the output destinations (client or JRS server), which creates challenges for organizations that rely on centralized or shared repositories.

Proposed Enhancement
Add an option in the Report Builder scheduling configuration to allow scheduled reports to be automatically saved to a remote location, such as:

  • Network drives
  • Shared file systems
  • SharePoint sites
  • Other supported external storage locations

This option would be configurable as part of the report scheduling setup.

Use Case
Enabling remote storage for scheduled reports would:

  • Support centralized access to reports across teams
  • Align with enterprise document management practices
  • Reduce the need for manual report downloads and redistribution
  • Improve integration with existing collaboration and archival tools

    As part of the review process, we strive to be transparent about our intentions with each enhancement suggestion. The IBM Engineering team has carefully reviewed this idea, and requested additional information. To date, no additional information received and based on our understanding, idea does not fit our near-term plans. Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository.  We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products.

    Thank you for submitting idea. IBM Engineering team review board evaluated this request and determined it will need additional information to evaluate this request.

    There are several concerns with this idea. First, if there is an alternative option to save the scheduled reports, this could be implemented as a central system where an admin would specify a single remote location for all scheduled reports. Would a single shared location be acceptable to satisfy your request? Also, this location must always exist or the integrity of the system is impacted. Last, would you have concerns providing the full read/write access to the shared locations as this would be mandatory?
