Enable customizable Compare Configuration Report

Users should be able to configure  / customize a report comparing two configurations, for example stream to baseline. 

This functionality exists in DNG with very generic options, but users have asked to make that report customizable, for example including views or excluding comments. 

The existing compare configuration often provides too much or unwanted information, e.g. when comments are used in DNG, these get exported as well and make the report unnecessary long.

    DOORS Next out of the box compare configuration is based on the Publishing technology/template. If you are interested to have different comparison, a new templates using Publishing must be developed.
    Publishing provides compare configuration and you can see details at https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/engineering-lifecycle-management-suite/lifecycle-optimization-publishing/7.1.0?topic=reports-generating-comparison-document-style-report.

    If you are interested, I would be happy to meet to discuss/explain process used to develop Publishing templates.

    This idea seemed to be misunderstood massively. 
    Using Publishing and giving users the ability to compare their configuration are two very different scenarios. 

    Publishing does NOT have the ability to compare two configurations with each other according to your own customer support.

    Please reopen this idea to someone who understands the problem.

    The comparison template embedded in DOORS Next is based on the Publishing component, Engineering Document Generation (EDG). To modify or create a new template, the user would need to use the Publishing client; see https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/engineering-lifecycle-management-suite/lifecycle-optimization-publishing/7.1.0. Creating/modifying templates is usually a functionality for a selected set of users, or it can be obtained from external parties like IBM Services or a business partner.

    As this is an existing functionality part of the Publishing, this idea is closed. Although we are closing this request, it will be kept in IBM's ideas repository.  We value your feedback and thank you for allowing us to partner with you in developing our products.

    Hello, exactly how can I customize the existing template and offer it to users ? 
    I opened a service request with IBM Support regarding this and they fowarded me to open a request for enhancement, so that is what I did.

     

    The functionality to customize the compare configuration report however is not available to users within DOORS  Next, which it should be, since the needed amount of information varies from project to project and / or users to users.

    Thank you for submitting idea. IBM Engineering team review board evaluated this request and determined it will need additional information to evaluate this request.

    Based on the description shared, you would like users to customize DOORS Next report comparing two configurations, for example stream to baseline. This functionality is using Publishing template in the background and the referenced report is an example. You have an option to develop your own templates and offer it to your users. Therefore, this is an existing functionality. Is there something else that you would like to add?
