in the ETM tool, as per the IBM meta model

Test case must have Test script.

We have brought in lot of categories which are global in nature and it is really cumber some when i create Test script from the Testcase as these values which are filled are not filled in the Test script.

in Reality, this will be situation.

Similar kind of functionality has to be worked when we create artifcats from the Test plan...,


This will definetly improve the efficiency and usability

    This is/was compounded by the categories for Test Cases not transferring to TCERs... but displaying in the UI on TCERs. We reported that as a defect with the hope that a shared category would be propagated to other artifact types. Instead, IBM reported to us that that behavior was not expected. That's why it's not a surprise that this status is "Not under consideration" but it is maddening. Why are categories global/shared in QM if they don't behave that way?

    You can edit test scripts from the test case by using the Edit Test Scripts Inline section. To use this feature, you add the section to any existing test case. If you create a new test case by using the Basic manual test case template, the new section is included automatically.
    In the Edit Test Scripts Inline section, the option to synchronize the state and lock status of the test script with the state of the test case is not applicable to a user-defined workflow

    Can you take advantage of this option instead of duplicating categories between test cases and test scripts?

    Thanks for the additional information.

    Please note that Test Cases can be reused in multiple Test Plans, so I am not sure how this would work if you duplicating the categories from one Test Plan to the Test Cases, what would happen when you reuse those same Test Cases in another Test Plan?
