In RQM, the excel importer tool allows for a unique ID to be imported and assigned to a Test Case while utilizing the command testcase.XLSArtifactID="Value".
Do to the way that our project teams work, they have requirements and procedures written which directly reference the unique ID as it exists in the current Test Management System (ie: UI.GWT.TC-001). When migrating Test Casess from the source system (such as DOORS CLASSIC) to the target system (RQM), we need to be able to maintain the unique ID of the Test Case and have it able to be accessed via the RQM GUI and used as the Primary ID that is used to link to RTC and DNG artifacts.
If this linkage is not provided, then this will be a barrier that will prevent teams from going to the RQM-DNG-RTC suite as they will be forced to rework and rewrite existing Requirements and Procedures.

2) The ability to predictively migrate test cases into RQM. Per this example, if we migrate “7XYZ-HC-0026” from DC to RQM, we want to be sure that it is still called “7XYZ-HC-0026” in RQM.

A solution would be to use a custom attribute in RQM to store this project specific ID. The RQM Excel importer supports custom attributes. And, the REST API could be used to set automatically this custom attributes for TC created directly in RQM.
