Today, in our company, more and more projects are using ETM. Some project are migrating from Excel or DOORS to ETM in order to manage the traceability with the requirements.
However, sometimes the requirements change are only provided by a Change Request in EWM and a project would like to be able to link this Change Request to a step in order to justify the modification of the step that will happen before the modification of the requirement.
Goal of the idea: Enable links to EWM work items in a test script step.
Why it is useful ?:
For projects working in both DOORS and Doors Next (system and software), sometimes the change of a requirement in DOORS will be applied in Doors Next a few months later (after the next ReqIF for example). In this case, in the ELM environment only a Change Request is created in EWM to explain the change of the requirement. In order to adapt the test quickly, we could be able to link the step with the change request in order to justify the change of the step.
How should it work ?:
In ETM, we would be able to activate an option to create links between test steps and work items (same as the current option to activate links with requirements). Then from the test script step we would be able to select the same link type as for the Test Script or Test case ("Related to ...").
Best regards
