IBM Sustainability Software - Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against the products and services belonging to IBM Sustainability Software. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Allow for account numbers to be used as input to calculation logic in virtual accounts

At the moment when creating a virtual account, users can only adopt 'data types' as metrics for input in formulas/calculation logic.

It would be great to allow for more flexibility, using not only data types but also account numbers (more granularity). Also it would be good to be able to create virtual accounts where you can enter formulas that have more than one variable/data type but with the same unit. The system does not allow for this at the moment.

This would make ENVIZI much 'smarter' and allow users to create virtual accounts that calculate items from two or more account numbers with the same data type.

Example: For the data type Diesel, I have two account numbers: Total invoiced_Diesel (L) and Mine_Diesel (L). If I subtract Total invoiced - Mine I obtain the total used in the processing department. This is a simple calcualtion that ENVIZI does not allow me to do using virtual accoutns since both  Total invoiced_Diesel (L) and Mine_Diesel (L) have the same data type which is Diesel.

Hi Helga -- it is already possible to configure the scenarios you have laid out. Virtual Data Rules represent the overall data structure of a rule, but then when a virtual account is configured using virtual account relationships you specify the individual accounts used in those rules.

Also, it is already possible to create formulas that have multiple variables from the same data type. Using your Diesel example I have configured a sample rule in your instance to illustrate how this would be done. The rule is called "EnviziESG-I-493 Total Diesel Used Example". This rules uses the Diesel Stationary [kL] data type for both variables in the formula and subtracts KL of Diesel from KL of Diesel. When you create the virtual account you simply nominate the Total Invoiced Diesel account to fill the first variable and the Mine Diesel to fill the second variable. This then gives you the Total used as you desire.

If you need further assistance with these rules please reach out to me (michael.dunbar@ibm.com) via email and we can set up a session to review the functionality.

    Regards, Michael.
