Estimations in Envizi could be more streamlined having the option to be done on a geography level

Today, if one wants to leverage Envizi for estimations, they have to create virtual accounts and manually add locations/accounts for reference.

Most businesses will do estimations for their locations based on square footage, using consumption/s.f. of a whole geography (i.e. Ontario) and apply to a location with no consumption.

Envizi should streamline the estimation process that way, enabling users to do it based on s.f. for a given geography.

Thanks for raising an enhancement request through the IBM ideas portal.

Envizi has a built-in data estimation functionality to auto fill in data gaps wherever required. System generated estimates are called 'Accruals' in Envizi. If the feature is turned on, accruals will be generated and they are based on the historical daily average consumption values of the same account. There are several methodologies to be chosen from when it comes to calculate accruals, such as by using the same month last year for accounts with seasonal fluctionation patterns (e.g., natural gas), or using the average of last 12/18/24 months of data for accounts that mostly share similar consumption patterns to previous years. More details on the Envizi Accruals function can be found here: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/envizi-esg-suite?topic=configuring-accruals

For accruals requiring calculations involving data in multiple accounts, such as using intensities based on floor area and consumption in other accounts, the recommended approach is to use Virtual Accounts to establish the calculation relationships. The virtual accounts approach ensures maximum flexibity for setting up the estimation caclulation, for example, combining multiple consumption accounts and divide them by floor area data captured in multiple accounts to derive the intisity figure to be based off.

There is no plan to develop a non-account historical average based accrual method, as we believe the virtual accounts approach shall address most use cases and delivers a flexible and workable solution to cater for the variety of scenarios we see from our client base.
