Clear Current Selection in Tables, When Filter is Changed

Currently, when items are selected (checked) in a table, that selection is retained, even after one or more of the selected items has been filtered out.  This selection persists until an unfiltered table row is clicked.

This can actually create problems, especially when conducting batch operations, such as tagging.  For example, suppose I have a table with 10 rows, 5 where Column1 = A and 5 where Column1 = B.  I select all 5 A and 3 B rows.  Then, I filter out B.  Even though I can't see it, those 3 rows where Column1 = B are still selected.  If I apply a tag to the selected values, it will be applied to the 3 B rows I previously selected, even though they are filtered out and I can't see them.

It is unlikely that most users would intend this result, in my opinion.  Therefore, I propose one of two improvements.

1. Cancel the active selection (uncheck all), whenever a new filter is applied to or removed from a table.

2. Whenever an operation will affect table rows not visible in the filter, give the user a warning (e.g., "The operation you are about to perform will affect x rows currently filtered out.  Are you sure?"), and ask for confirmation.

Thank you again for raising this idea.
The existing grids were designed like this to allow multiple filters to be applied while selecting rows. We understand that this experience may be confusing in some scenarios and we will be addressing this as part of a new user experience. In the new experience, filtering for grids will be provided in a separate filter panel and any excluded rows will be unselected before any actions are applied.

This new experience is currently in testing and will be released for public preview starting early 2026, initially for the accounts grid, and later for locations and groups.

Apologies for needing to move this ticket back to In Review. After further clarification, it appears this behaviour is by design to support applying multiple filter criteria to rows in a grid. We will need to review this further to see if any changes can be made in the current grids and will update the ticket accordingly.

Thank you for raising this ticket. We have identified this as a defect and so kindly ask that you raise this via our support channel and ask that it be escalated.

Please also advise if there is a specific grid where you're experiencing this issue. We are currently investigating a fix for this on our paginated grids but will check whether the same can be applied on standard grids.
