Changes to system provided queries and searches

Being the Maximo Administrator, my experience tells me that some upgrade of my Maximo environment provides changes to default where clauses in the DB config. Hence, I kindly ask to have a report telling the difference between current standard where clauses and the ones in the upgrade package, so that I will know if I need to take any action before releasing the Prod environment to my users. I.e. the standard search for Possession candidates. Has the upgrade package done any changes to this search?

    Hi Tom,

Very good you have looked into this. In my reply from 24 May, please find a screen shot showing where in MAS the query is stored.

    Kind regards,

    Michael

    Hi Michael

    You mentioned this:

In case an upgrade on EAM as well as on MAS causes that our adjusted and configured possession candidate search will be overwritten with the default provided query or an optimized new query, we would very much like to know in advance or at least active a comparison tool which can do a compare between e.g. our DEV and our PROD environment.

Can you clarify where you are maintaining this query, in which application? I don't see a place in the Security Groups application where you maintain queries (but I'm not an expert in the security group application)

    thanks

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for your comment on our idea.

Having implemented the Work Order app for CI (PLUSXWO) back in January 2022, we have also implemented the centralized and OOTB CI candidate search for possessions.

Previously we had a Sund & Bælt local implementation for finding candidates for both possessions as well as for road blocks.

Our experience from previous upgrades of our Maximo EAM (ver. 7.x), we have learned that each upgrade provides changes to security groups. I believe this is necessary in order for us to be able to utilize new applications.

In case an upgrade on EAM as well as on MAS causes that our adjusted and configured possession candidate search will be overwritten with the default provided query or an optimized new query, we would very much like to know in advance or at least active a comparison tool which can do a compare between e.g. our DEV and our PROD environment.

Saying that, in case any future upgrades will never update any customer configured changes to queries, which support OOTB functionality, I believe such tool won’t be necessary.

Above describes our “protection” of working functionality.

The other way around could be that new functionality comes with a MAS upgrade. The Sund & Bælt implemented candidate search doesn’t scope this new functionality, but it is assessed it would benefit our business processes.

A tool to do a compare the upgraded search/query in DEV up against the current working in PROD would be an excellent tool.

    Kind regards,

    Michael

Hi Can you clarify which 'Where' Clauses you are referencing in DB Configure application? is it the clause tied to an Object Relationship?
