Dear team,
We would like to propose an enhancement to the GSLP schedule visualization to better manage cases where a single operation extends across multiple shifts.
Context:
Currently, when a schedule contains multiple operations, there is a display issue where allocated resources are not correctly shown if the available resources in a shift are below the required resources for a task.
Example:
A task with a 12-hour duration, requiring 3 crafts (B2), for a total of 36 MHrs, distributed across two shifts (AM and PM):
Case 1:
B2 = 3 for AM
B2 = 3 for PM
✅ Solution found and ✅ GANTT displays correctly
Case 2:
B2 = 3 for AM
B2 <= 2 for PM (any difference compared with ressources available from am shift)
✅ Solution found, but the ❌ GANTT does not display the results provided by the optimizer
Identified Issue:
The visualization in GSLP, particularly in the date chart (correct according to the parent scheduled time but incorrect for the operation scheduled time, with issues in recalculation) and the craft chart (inadequate color chart bars), does not correctly reflect resource allocation when certain parts of a shift are not covered.
Expected Benefits:
Improve the visualization of resources assigned per shift.
Prevent misinterpretations and facilitate operations management.
Enable better decision-making during planning.
We appreciate your attention and support on the digital idea board so that IBM can consider this improvement in future updates.
Best regards, Axel Marty
