Provide the ability to link Device ID history data with a replacement Device ID

Let's assume there is a temperature sensor deployed on a machine, everything is working fine. Sensor and machine both has been in operation for last 2 years, sensor is deployed as a device in Monitor application and readings are flowing to Monitor Dashboard. Device ID setup in Monitor is same as the sensor unique id as provided by manufacturer, it is used to fetch sensor reading from sensor manufacturer's cloud and post the same to Monitor using Device ID. 

One day the sensor breaks down and after a month new sensor from same manufacturer is deployed on the machine. Our need is to retain the history of readings from broken sensor and then continue in the same dashboard with new sensor installed.

This would be a new device (performing the same role). The requirement would be to link between old and new devices, as they would be separate Device ID.
