Rotating Assets need to receive Specification Attributes from their Classification not just the Rotating Item

I made a Classification (BOILER), checked the box so that it generates the Description, made it so that it works with both Items and Assets, configured 7 Attributes to be used with both Items and Assets, and then 3 more Attributes (STATEID, NATLBD, and YRBUILT) to be used only with Assets. So, 10 Attributes in total, but the last 3 should not appear on the Item record's Specs.

I made a Rotating Item record and put it in the Classification I made and filled in the seven Attribute (Specification) values. All good there.

I made a Rotating Asset record that references that Rotating Item. It applied everything that the Item record has. However, the Asset record is not showing the 3 additional Attributes.

I need it to also apply the 3 Attributes that were configured to apply to Asset records.

The whole point of Rotating Assets is that it qualifies as both an Item AND an Asset. Why are the Classification attributes ONLY using the Item's specifications on the Asset?

    Additional Use Case:

Laptop Computers...  you may want to have the IP Address populated in the Asset's Description, however you would not want that populated in the Item's Description.

The right way to achieve this (and this works when the Asset is not a Rotating Asset) is to set the IP Address attribute on the Classification's Use With Details to the Asset application (not the Item Application).

Thanks for the steps - it is still not clear how to achieve this step 'STATEID; configure this as Sequence '4' only for ASSET; delete it from use with ITEM'. Can you provide screenshots perhaps?

    Step 1. Classifications

    • Go to Classifications

    • Create a record (e.g. BOILER)

    • Probably not truly relevant to this discussion or example, but . . .check the boxes to 'Generate Description' and 'Use Classification'

    • Add ASSET and ITEM in the Use With section

    • Add Attributes:

      • TYPE; configure this (in the 'Use with Object Detail' dialog box) as Sequence '1' for both ASSET and ITEM

      • MANUFACT (Manufacturer); configure this as Sequence '2' for both ASSET and ITEM

      • MODEL; configure this as Sequence '3' for both ASSET and ITEM

      • STATEID; configure this as Sequence '4' only for ASSET; delete it from use with ITEM

    • Save

    Step 2. Item

    • Go to Item Master

    • Create a record

    • Put it in the BOILER Classification created above

    • Fill in values for the Attributes. There should only be three Attributes -- TYPE, MANUFACT, and MODEL -- as configured above.

    • Check the box on the main tab to make this 'Rotating'

    • Make sure the status = 'ACTIVE'

    • Record the item number; you will use it in the next step.

    • Save.

    Step 3. Asset

    • Go to Assets

    • Create a record.

    • Fill in the Rotating Item field with the item number of the item created in the previous step.

    • Save

PROBLEM: Look at the Specifications tab on the Asset record you just created. It only has the three Attributes that came from the Item Record. The fourth Attribute, STATEID, should have been added here, but it was not.

We had specifically configured the STATEID attribute to be used with Assets. If I were not using a Rotating Item, it would work -- the Asset Specs would have all 4 Attributes. But I am, I will, I must, use a Rotating Item. I want it to inherit everything from the Item record, and then also look back to the Classification to see if there is anything else that needs to be added.
