I would like an Event Lookup category for application designer that would add the ability to hyperlink to an outside link based off data in the text field stored in the database.

It is useful as an easy way to allow users to add hyperlink URLs into the database (not as attachments) then have an easy button next to that would open they hyperlink in a new browser tab.  Everyone could use this.  My initial design is you have an ALN database field that stores the URL.  Then in the application designer on the "LOOKUP" or "Menu Type" field you can have some new standard option called URL.  When you put that category in instead of a Go to Lookup or Longdesc lookup this would add another icon right of the text box that would open the URL in a new window.  Should be easy to implement and a lot of value.

This may be able to be done with the Launch in Context module but this would be a much easier way for the IT Team to implement this easy action.  Today the user can accomplish this same feature by right clicking on the field and say open in new tab and it works but the button would be more intuitive.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to provide your ideas to IBM. We truly value our relationship with you and appreciate your willingness to share details about your experience, your recommendations, and ideas.

I am sorry to inform you that our team has evaluated the request and has determined that it is included as part of our Maximo modernization efforts, and is already released as part of the Role Based applications (Such as the Work Orders application in MAS8.11). However, this feature will not be back-ported to older areas of the UI.

If you would like to be involved in the features of these new applications, or other Maximo modernization efforts at IBM, please email smithjor@us.ibm.com to become part of our sponsored user group, which is a program where you and people in your organization become active participants in the Maximo design process, working alongside our design teams to help us create great future experiences for real target users.
