Plant Layout View for Permit to Work

Why is it useful?
In complex Oil & Gas facilities, multiple permits are often requested simultaneously for work in the same or nearby locations. Without a visual representation of permit locations, conflicts between activities (e.g., hot work, confined space entry, lifting operations) may not be easily identified during planning and approval. A Plant Layout View enables early detection of overlapping or conflicting permits, improving safety, coordination, and decision-making while reducing operational risk.

Who would benefit from it?

Permit Approvers and Issuing Authorities

Operations and Asset Managers

HSE teams and Safety Officers

Planners and Supervisors coordinating simultaneous operations

How should it work?
The Permit to Work application should include a graphical plant layout or area-based map view where all permits (requested, approved, active, and planned) are visually displayed by location.
Key capabilities should include:

Visual indicators for permit types and status

Highlighting of multiple permits in the same or overlapping locations

Filters by area, permit type, status, and date/time

Drill-down from the layout view to permit details

This view would support safer planning, faster approvals, and better coordination of work activities across the plant.
