Support OAuth2 Access Tokens from OIDC Identity Providers for Maximo API Authentication

  • OIDC will be supported from MAS 9.1
  • But I understood from a PMR that API keys will still be required for accessing Maximo. 
  • This creates a disconnect between user authentication (which uses industry standards like OAuth2/OIDC) and API authentication (which still relies on proprietary API keys).
  • Supporting OAuth2 access tokens issued by trusted OIDC Identity Providers would enable secure, standards-based API access, eliminating the need to manage separate API keys for each integration.
  • Maximo should accept and validate OAuth2 bearer tokens in the Authorization header of REST API requests.
  • The tokens would be issued by a trusted OIDC Identity Provider (e.g., Azure AD) configured in Maximo.
