Updating records through MIF should follow the same business rules as in the web ui

In the web ui you are not able to update a record in history, e.g. a closed workorder, because the whole record will be read only. You can use the action "Edit History Workorder" which will open up a few selected attributes that can be edited, but bussiness critical attributes such as asset, location, glaccount etc are still read only and cannot be changed.

If you try to update the same record through a REST request, using e.g. MXAPIWODETAIL, or by importing a file through jms, you will however be successful. There seemingly are no checks in place to prevent the user to update the record, eventhough status is closed and historyflag=1.

Maximo should follow the same set of rules whether you try to change a record through the UI or through MIF. The way Maximo behaves now gives any user with api access pretty much free hands to do what they want with a history record.
