Maximo Mobile – Support for Kiosk Mode without Overlay Warnings

When using Maximo Mobile in Android Kiosk mode, users encounter a recurring screen overlay warning specifically when attempting to add attachments to work orders. Other applications in the same kiosk mode (e.g., accessing camera or audio) function correctly without triggering the alert. This indicates that the warning is generated due to Maximo Mobile UI elements interacting with Android’s “Appear on Top” permission mechanism.

Currently:

  • Maximo Mobile is neither requesting nor whitelisted for this system-level overlay permission in Kiosk mode.
  • There is no workaround from the product side; the issue is resolved only by MDM-based whitelisting, which is not always feasible or standardized.

Requested enhancement:

  • Enable Maximo Mobile to fully support Kiosk mode without triggering overlay warnings.
  • Provide a configuration or internal handling in the product to bypass the Android overlay detection for legitimate in-app interactions like adding attachments.
  • Ideally, ensure that the app can operate under Kiosk mode without requiring additional MDM whitelist configuration for “Appear on Top.”
