Enable drag-and-drop of email messages from New Outlook into Maximo attachments

Users should be able to drag an email message directly from Microsoft New Outlook into the attachment section of a Maximo service request, ticket or work order.

This functionality currently works with Classic Outlook, where a dragged email is provided as an MSG file. New Outlook uses EML or a browser-based data object instead, which Maximo does not appear to recognise as an uploadable attachment when it is dragged directly into Maximo.

This affects Contact Centre employees and other Maximo users who need to retain customer correspondence with the relevant record. Users must currently save or download the email first and then upload it manually. This adds unnecessary steps and increases the risk that correspondence is not attached to the correct record.

Requested behaviour:

Allow an email from New Outlook to be dropped directly into the Maximo attachment area.

Convert or process the dragged Outlook object as an EML file where necessary.

Preserve the original subject, sender, recipients, sent date and email content.

Include any attachments contained within the original email.

Generate a recognisable filename, preferably based on the email subject and date.

Support this functionality for service requests, tickets and work orders.

Display a clear error message if the email cannot be processed.

Expected result:

After dropping an email from New Outlook into Maximo, the complete email is stored as an attachment on the selected record and can subsequently be downloaded and opened as an EML file.
