Enable Attachments on the Initial Work Order Creation Page in Maximo Mobile Application

Why is it useful?

During site inspections, users need to capture photo evidence immediately when they identify an issue. Currently, they must first enter the work order details, save the record and wait for the next page before attaching photos. This causes delays, especially when the application or network is slow. It also increases the possibility of users forgetting the attachment or attaching the wrong photo later.

Providing the attachment option on the initial creation page would improve efficiency, data quality and the completeness of work orders.

Who would benefit from it?

  • Inspectors conducting inspections across multiple locations
  • Technicians creating work orders while working on-site
  • Supervisors and maintenance teams who require clear photo evidence
  • Organizations using Maximo Mobile for inspections and field operations
  • Planning teams that use photographs to assess issues and assign the correct resources

How should it work?

The camera and attachment option should be available on the initial work order creation page. Users should be able to:

  1. Enter the basic work order details.
  2. Take a photo using the device camera or select one from the gallery.
  3. See the selected photo before saving.
  4. Save the work order together with its attachments.
