Asset Inventory Moves - Ability to perform mass move of rotating assets between bins within a storeroom or between storerooms and bins.

Why?
Today the process of moving assets from bin to bin within in a storeroom or even between storerooms is a 1 by 1 asset process. This is very time consuming.

Who benefits?
The customers that benefit most are those that use the inventories to manage their assets and keep track of assets by bin location. This ability allows them to put the assets anywhere in the warehouse and easily move them when needed.

How should it work?
Have a specific app for Asset Inventory Moves. This app would be linked with assets and inventory. Think long the lines of Issues and Transfers. There would be 2 buttons - Mass Move Same Storeroom and Mass Move Different Storeroom

Mass Move Same Storeroom
Select the from storeroom
The user would click the Mass Move Same Storeroom button
Search for Bin Location, Description, Part Number, and Qty
Click the check box beside the entry/entries and click OK

The entry would show a total of the assets in the bin.
The Asset Inventory Moves screen would show each entry with a box to enter a new bin location within the storeroom
The user Saves and the assets move from bin to bin in the storeroom.
The user cannot change the quantity of assets as this would be a mass move of all assets (transfer from bin to new bin) updating the inventory.
This would be a new issuetype of ASSETMOVE in invtrans
Since the inventory is staying in the same storeroom, there is no movement of dollars

Mass Move Different Storerooms
Select the from storeroom
The user would click the Mass Move Different Storerooms
Search for Bin Location, Description, Part Number, and Qty
Click the check box beside the entry/entries and click OK

The entry would show a total of the assets in the bin.
The Asset Inventory Moves screen would have a box to enter a new storeroom and bin location
In this option, the user cannot change the quantity of assets as this would be a mass move of all assets (transfer from the storeroom and bin to the new storeroom and bin) updating the inventory.
This would be a new issuetype of ASSETTRANSFER in matusetrans
Since the inventory is moving between storerooms, there is movement of dollars, the cost will have to be adjusted based on the cost of the inventory transferred, if average cost.
The accounting would multiply the quantity times the cost of the inventory item to move the costs between the storerooms. Then the receiving inventory cost would have to be adjusted.

Hi Ashley, you could move Rotating Assets by using Transfer type Inventory Usage records from BIN to BIN (and across Storerooms as well). In Manage you can use the Inventory Usage application and Transfer the Assets without having to specify the exact Asset IDs one by one. You are able to set the from and to BINs (and Storerooms) and when choosing to complete the Transfer (or initiate Shipping) you will be prompted to choose the Asset IDs but you can click Auto-Split to automatically fill in this information. The only difference currently is that you are not displayed the quantity in the origin BIN and if you try to move more than that, the application will suggest additional inventory from other BINs in the same Storeroom (if there are any). Could you confirm if you have evaluated this method as an option?

Thank you for the submission. Have you been able to try this in the MAS 9 version of Issues and Transfers (RBA)? The functionality to transfer multiple items by choosing the specific asset ID is supported there.
