Upvoted as its assumption new assets to haved cycle from Not Ready or Default status approach.
Great idea and something that sounds so simple it should be there already!
This is a nice idea. It does make sense to not duplicate an asset into decommissioned state.
Its a nice Idea to have this implementation
Ideally there would be a Site level setting for:
- Default Status on Duplicate
- Default Status for assets moved to this site
A System Property would enable these two site level settings so that there is no change to existing clients. This would allow the default to be NOT READY in both cases.
Duplicating a Decommissioned asset and new asset is at Decommissioned status doesn't make sense although you can subsequently change status.
