Asset Templates (Tr) - Measurement Points should have the ability to update existing Condition Monitoring Points when Asset Template is applied a subsequent time after being updated.

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

The ability to have a template for Condition Monitoring points as provided with the Measurement Points tab on Asset Templates for Transportation is very useful. However, it only works when you first generate new assets or apply the asset template to existing assets, and not after the condition monitoring point has been created and you now wish to update the Asset Template with, for example, a different Job Plan, Master PM or Priority or after making adjustments to the limits and allow those changes to flow through to the Condition Monitoring Points.

A new attribute PLUSTACCEPTTPUPDATES could be added to Condition Monitoring object MEASUREPOINT. If set, then the Apply to Existing Assets action would additionally copy across fields from the PLUSTTPMEASUREPOINT object. If the Master PM had been changed then the new PM would be added to the Upper/Lower Limit PM. If not set, it makes no change to existing MEASUREPOINT record as it does today.

The justification for this is that with an increasing amount of condition based maintenance occurring it should be possible to change the Condition Monitoring attributes based on feedback from the field. For example you might find the limits need to be tightened or loosened. You might decide that a different Job Plan is needed, or you now want this to be triggered from a PM. There can be many fleet assets, and on each of those the asset template may apply to multiple assets, therefore adjusting the limits can be time consuming and prone to mistake.
