Adding MQTT support for the MIF

This initiative introduces native support for the MQTT messaging protocol within the Maximo Integration Framework, enabling faster, more efficient connections between Maximo and the systems our clients rely on. By incorporating feedback from the user community—led by Moderna’s request—this enhancement will streamline data exchange, reduce delays, and make it easier to connect IoT devices, production systems, and external applications.

Why It’s Useful
It allows organizations to get critical operational data into Maximo in near real-time, improving decision-making, reducing downtime, and supporting advanced analytics. This is especially valuable in industries with complex, time-sensitive processes like pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, energy, and transportation.

Who Benefits
Moderna will see immediate gains in connecting their production and asset management systems seamlessly. Other clients—particularly those running IoT-heavy operations—will also benefit from simplified integrations, faster implementation timelines, and greater flexibility in how they move data.

How It Would Work
Maximo would be able to “listen” for and publish events through MQTT, letting different systems communicate directly without heavy custom development. This creates a scalable, reusable integration path that supports both Moderna’s needs today and similar client use cases in the future.
