IBM MAS ConfigDB shows a misleading “insufficient space” error when Oracle rejects the dummy tablespace‑check operation for reasons unrelated to storage, creating avoidable troubleshooting delays for customers.

The current ConfigDB process for Maximo Application Suite uses a dummy table creation (maximo_makespace) to validate tablespace extensibility in Oracle.
When Oracle is not configured according to recommended database settings, this operation may fail—even when ample free space exists—due to environmental issues such as triggers or configuration constraints.

However, the error surfaced in Maximo (BMXAA0350E – There is not enough free space…) does not reflect the true Oracle error, leading to confusion and difficulty in troubleshooting.
Error detail: BMXAA0350E - There is not enough free space on database to run database configuration. 65536 bytes are needed in tablespace MAXDATA.

A serviceability enhancement is requested to ensure Maximo surfaces the actual Oracle error details instead of reporting a generic and misleading free‑space message.
