Add ABC Type (ABCTYPE) as a Selection Criteria When Creating Count Books and as a Filter for Counting Items in Inventory Counting

When creating a Count Book or counting items in Inventory Counting, users can select and filter items using general item selection criteria. However, there is currently no option to filter or select items based on ABC Type (ABCTYPE), even though ABC classification is a foundational inventory control concept widely used to define count frequency and inventory control strategies.

During count execution users frequently need to focus on A items first (high value / critical), then B (moderate value/less critical), then C (lower value/slow moving/not critical).

ABC classification already exists in Maximo and is actively maintained by inventory teams. Making it available as a native filter in Count Book creation and Inventory Counting is a logical and low-friction enhancement that significantly improves usability and operational efficiency, especially for organizations transitioning from legacy Maximo to MAS.

Count Books:

  • Include ABCTYPE in the Item Selection / Selection Type filter options
  • Allow users to select one or more ABC classifications (e.g., A only, A+B, etc.)
  • Apply the filter dynamically to Count Book item population

Inventory Counting:

  • Add ABCTYPE as a runtime filter when counting items from a Count Book.
